Share Your Positive IBKR Experience
Participation in the Refer a Friend program is limited to IBKR clients with an individual or joint account that has a net liquidation value (NLV) of at least USD 2000 and has placed at least one securities trade in their account. Geographic restrictions may apply. A bonus can only be paid if the referred client uses the unique application link that is shared with them.
Residents of Japan, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Poland and Israel are not eligible to participate in the program. Residents of Canada are eligible to participate as referrers and receive the USD 200 referral bonus, but are ineligible to earn welcome shares. Tax-deferred and tax-advantaged accounts are ineligible for both the referral bonus and awarding of Interactive Brokers stock. Shares and Payments will not be awarded where Interactive Brokers has confirmed that local law or regulation prohibits such arrangements. In addition, Financial Advisors, Hedge Funds, and Institutional accounts, including introducing broker and proprietary trading accounts are ineligible for the program.
Referrers are paid $200 for each referred client when the referred client opens an individual or joint account, deposits $10,000 within 30 days of opening the account and maintains a balance of at least $10,000 for one year.
Referred accounts will receive USD 1 in IBKR shares for every USD 100 of value (cash or other assets) added to their account for up to USD 1000 worth of IBKR shares. The average balance must be maintained for at least 1 year for the shares to vest and be accessible.
Referrers are prohibited from having any involvement with the referred account once the referral is complete. In particular, the referrer must agree not to:
Referrers are limited to 15 referrals per year and 30 referrals total. Referral bonuses and welcome shares will not be paid when the referrer and the new client are family members or others living at the same exact physical address.
Referrers who signed up under the previous program will receive payouts based on the terms of that program unless notified of a change.
